Albert Einstein was born on 14th March 1879 in the city of Ulm. His father Hermann and his mother Pauline were Jews. Soon after Albert's birth the family moved to Munich, where the father and his uncle had a little plant.
Albert had a younger sister. In 1885 he joint school and one year later he started learning at the Luitpold-Highschool. Because of the closing of his father's plant the family moved to Milano in the year 1894. Albert left
school without an examination and followed his family. He didn't like the idea of going to the army, so Einstein took off the German citizenship.
In 1896 he did his examination in Switzerland and started to study.
In 1900 Albert got his diploma as a teacher for Maths and Physics. He had no job, so he earned money as a private teacher. In 1901 he got the Swiss citizenship and one year later he became an expert third class at the
patent office in Bern.
Although the families didn't like it, Albert married Mileva Maric', a woman from Slovenia in the year 1903. Their daughter was born before the marriage - a disaster. Later they got two sons.
In 1905 some of his important works were published. For his thesis he got the title of Doctor for Physics in 1906. Also in that year his most known work "The Theory of Relativity" was written. In 1908 he got his habilitation and became an assistant professor for theoretic Physics. When he worked at the University of Prague he got the Austrian citizenship.
In 1912 he returned to Zürich to teach at the Technical Highschool. Then he became a member of the Prussian Academy of Science and Director of the Institute for Physics in Berlin.
In the years 1917-20 Einstein was ill. His cousin Elsa Löwenthal cared for him and so he got divorced from his wife in 1919 and soon married Elsa.
In 1922 he got the Nobelprize for Physics and started lots of travels around the world. Because of the political situation in Germany and his pacifist attitude he stayed in Princeton(USA) and stopped all contacts with Germany. From now he worked at the Institute for Advanced Study.
His wife died in 1936 and his sister lived with him. Einstein died on 18th April 1955 in Princeton as American citizen.
He was one of the greatest scientists who ever lived.
